Omniphysical Life vs. Replicate Life

For billions of years, life existed only in the information terms of the physical field in which all information is embodied in form and function, greatly limiting the power of living creatures. The emergence of our species gave rise to the descriptive information field and mind, creating a wholly new self whose informational power has revolutionized our lives as replicates. And now we realize that mind is omniphysical and can move from body to body, enabling individuals to command their physical nature. This new power of life allows us to overcome death while revolutionizing the nature of life and reality.

We want to be free to live our lives, to make our own decisions, to have our beliefs, to associate with those we choose, to exercise our autonomy. We want to be free from harm, and evil, and those who would suppress us and curb our freedoms.

But it’s a tough world in which there is death, evil, not enough to go around. And there are those who would gain power and resources by denying our freedoms. As replicates, none of us is truly free: we die, we struggle, we are at always at risk in our world of contingency and happenstance.

As omniphysical we have the power to command our materiality and to free ourselves from death, want, and harm. To be truly free we must also create the cooperative orders that assure our freedoms as individuals. Even as omniphysical, the only means to true freedom is a civilization built on goodness and otherness – winning our own freedom by assuring the same for each and every person.

As replicates, our grievances are real; our replicate reality is not powerful enough to fulfill our aspirations for life. We are stuck. We are born into our varying circumstances: rich/poor; educated/not; loving family/dysfunctional surroundings; opportunities/not a chance; hope for a future/out of luck.

There are no real answers in our replicate reality so our grievances mount, the fissures grow, and our politics descends into the division, dysfunction, and paralysis that magnify our grievances. The only answer is to gain the powers of omniphysical life – to end death, want, and harm, to get each of us unstuck and create a reality powerful enough to meet our aspirations for life – and put an end to our grievances.

We are a scientific civilization producing all kinds of intelligent information systems and artifacts that make us more productive, entertain us, make us more informed and enable our complex civilization. But we understand that the world is getting more complicated, the amount of information is growing exponentially, and the power of these intelligent machines is increasing. We intuit that our brain-supported minds can’t keep up and we rightly worry how all of this burgeoning machine intelligence and power might be deployed. Living in a replicate world of scarcity, conflict, death, and numerous vulnerabilities, we worry that all of this intelligent power will be used for malevolent purposes. As omniphysical, it is straightforward for each of our minds to exceed the information capabilities of any artifact. Mind is unlimited in its information capabilities and being omniphysical we can access the most powerful material means to support our mind. The answer to the AI threat is to empower our own enduring selfdom – and use that to build an omniphysical reality of goodness and life.

We all work. We’re working stiffs. We have to be to survive. And even as we have to work, there is great value in work – to exert toward common goals, to be with colleagues you enjoy, to have a sense of accomplishment. Thanks to mind, the kinds and amounts of work have improved over time. Consider great grandma’s kitchen and laundry compared to a modern one. Work is less burdensome, less dangerous. Overall, the standard of living has increased but large disparities in compensation and wealth remain.

Omniphysical life revolutionizes work – the kinds of work, how we work, the dangers and drudgery of work, the ways we are compensated, the impacts on our world of life. Omniphysicality can eliminate the equity-efficiency trade-off to elevate all of us – compensating individuals equitably without undermining efficiency.

As for bodies, omniphysical life will revolutionize our bodily intelligence – to sense and discern, to feel, and to act smartly – and adaptable to environments that are beyond our reach as replicates.

We’re all homo sapiens and share many bodily attributes. But there’s great variety in our looks whether because of genetic, environmental, cultural factors, etc. There’s also amazing variety that comes from style and fashion.

These differences can be wonderful, allowing us to express ourselves as individuals, to identify with others, to join in common purpose, and to enrich our lives. But in our challenging replicate reality our looks can be markers that separate us, that identify ‘us’ from ‘them,’ that are used to favor some people over others, and to circle the wagons.

As omniphysical, we command our physical being and are able to determine our looks as expressions of our autonomy and freedom. The markers that separate us in our replicate world disappear in a world in which we are assured as omniphysical, free to be and look as we please.

As replicates we love sex. That’s how we’re wired. The need to reproduce is rewarded by the pleasures and intimacies of sex. Despite the necessity and pleasures of sex, there are many risks: to the mother, the child, and from unplanned or promiscuous sex. And our niche-filling impulses have produced eight billion of us with the accompanying strains on our civilization and planet of life.

The information of life is not conveyed as a genomic information store but as omniphysical mind. The choice to have children is not driven by biological instincts.

As omniphysical, what will become of the pleasures and intimacies of sex? Those feels will still be available but not tied to the urges to reproduce. We are liberated by freeing bodily pleasures from reproductive imperatives, removing the downsides of instinct-driven biological reproduction while freeing people to choose the nature of their intimacies and pleasures.

Family is an essential mainstay of our world of life. We are born into a family; loved and raised by parents, siblings, and extended family; and enjoy the pleasures and challenges of family life. And, of course, family is central to our system of replicate life. Family provides the foundation for the love, care, and guidance that supports us during our long maturation to adulthood.

That’s because our biological nature and developmental processes do not enable mind as an autonomous self in the early years of life. As a family, we exert mightily to guard and protect our precious children – now given added significance by the passage to omniphysical life. As omniphysical, this problem disappears as the new individual is imbued with an omniphysical mind capable of moving from body to body and being made safe from harm.

Our bodies are astounding creations and we are grateful for them. We are also grateful for all of those whose research, knowledge, skills, and caring help keep us healthy and alive. As omniphysical, we determine our physical nature. Our bodies are built to our purposes. They are not opaque but transparent, the products of systems engineering and production, taking advantage of economies of scale. If we crush an arm, we replace it. If a body wears out, we move to a new one; if we need repairs, that body goes off-line. Bodies are vehicles of life. As omniphysical, our bodies allow us to be healthy and vibrant. No disabilities or injuries, no bodily decline, and no death. All of the replicate-based insurance/financial intermediaries are no longer needed.

Like all creatures, we are products of evolution and share an ancient heritage. We love our pets and derive enormous benefit from having them in our lives. We deeply appreciate nature’s great creativity as well as the diversity, capabilities, and challenges faced by other creatures. As the only species with mind, we have gained dominion over our animal brethren and exercise that dominion to keep eight billion of us alive: for food, shelter, and numerous other needs and desires.

The result is cruelty to other creatures, large-scale infrastructures supporting our not-so-healthy food chain, and despoilment of the environment.

As omniphysical, we adapt our bodies to our purposes and optimize our energy needs drawing on direct sources Our replicate food chain is a thing of the past. Gone are the environmental despoilments, the massive waste of resources, the food-borne diseases and pathogens, and the subjugation and cruelty to other creatures.

We love our sports. We love the amazing athleticism, excitement, competition, the fanatic fans, and all the back and forth that go with it. Sports are good for our kids and all of us. Our sports and games teach team work, hard work, fair play, and make us healthier and happier in ways we all know. The beauty of sports is that we can compete, get the juices flowing, root for the home team, and at the end of the day we all recognize it’s an enjoyment – it’s not conflictual. At the end of the game we shake hands and recognize that there’s next time, next year. Writ large, sports bring us together in a shared fun enterprise.

As omniphysical, we will have all of the benefits of sports, only more so. Currently, our sports and our abilities to participate in sports are constrained by our human form, age, our disabilities, and by the cost of some sports. Not so as omniphysical. We will enrich our sports experiences with different bodies, different skills, different environments, and new sports. Omniphysicality will democratize sports. Of course, there will always be elite athletes but us regular folks will be able to compete, enjoy sports no matter what our age. No disabilities, no harm, and no risk of death – the way it should be for our enjoyments.

By adventures we mean the activities we undertake that are out of the ordinary, not day-to-day. We plan our adventures, look forward to being challenged, plan and provision and get in shape. There’s usually physicality and engagement with the great outdoors. We seek adventure for the fun, excitement, risk, accomplishment, fun, and simply doing something cool with others.

But as replicates we are limited in our adventures by our bodies, the nature of the environment, our age, our resources, our time, our physical capabilities, our opportunities, and the danger. No so as omniphysical. We will adventure with bodies and into environments that are inaccessible to us as replicates. Age will be no barrier; disabilities are gone; each of us will have the opportunities to adventure. We will continue to take risks but as omniphysical injury and death will not be the result. We will have more adventuresome, vibrant, and exciting lives.

There are so many good people in our world. But there is also evil that emanates from many sources: the struggles of replicate life, the quest for power, ideologies, the deranged, and more. We are vulnerable to evil even as we do our best to counter it, including using force to counter those who would do evil.

As omniphysical, mind is the inviolate core of the individual. Some people may hold evil thoughts and beliefs and desire to act on those. That ability must be precluded. The first defense against evil and other sources of harm is that a person’s omniphysical mind exists in multiple embodiments. If the body is harmed or dies, the person is alive in a new body. But more is needed. That is a civilization-level approach whose infrastructures; transparency and disclosure regimes; conditions for the uses of materials, technologies, and communications; and abilities to restrain evil actors preclude the means to undertake evil acts.

As replicates, we have an amazing capacity to love and embrace each other. Love is a gift to be given and received, an emotional/intellectual fusion that enriches our lives. The need to reproduce sets a foundation on which love can take hold and grow through sexual attraction, intimacies, and family life. Beyond the family, we love others for who they are, the way they treat us and others, the way they project and share goodness. And as a society, we recognize that the ancient wisdom of ‘love one another’ and ‘do unto others’ sets the cooperative foundation for our happiness.

As replicates, we have an amazing capacity to love and embrace each other. Love is a gift to be given and received, an emotional/intellectual fusion that enriches our lives. As omniphysical, the sexual foundation is gone but other factors enhance the relations that underlie and spark love. Free from the constraints of replicate life, we are free to reach out, engage, embrace others. Assured in our own being, the shields come down and we can find communion and community with others. Empowered as omniphysical, we are vibrant, interesting, active, intelligent, engaging – worthy and ready to be embraced and loved. And the intimacies and pleasures that can bind are available as omniphysical.
